Wednesday, October 6, 2010

THE COMMONWEALTH Games are in for tough competition. And now with India already having raked in 5 gold medals, it stands second after Australia. The Indian contingent is leaving no stone unturned to rake in the maximum number of medals.

The start was made by ace shooter and Olympic Gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra along with his teammate Gagan Narang, who is a world champion. Hopes are again high with these two ace shooters appearing individually in the 10m air rifle event which has been mastered by Bindra. Although he might face tough competition from Narang, the chance of India bagging another gold in shooting is quite close.

The situation in the pool looks captivating as well as grim as India's lone gladiator, Virdhawal Khade is all set to fight it out alone vying for at least one medal in the 50m butterfly event.

More action and surprises await in the womens hockey event: The Indian team will be facing world champions Australia afer their opening match against Scotland ended up in a draw. The mens hockey team emerged victorious with their classic 3-2 win against Malaysia yesterday.

With 28 gold medals at stake in today's event, a lot is expected from the players, who will be representing India in different disciplines like shooting, weightlifting, archery.
