Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony,artist performance details

The opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010 will start at 7 PM on Sunday, October 3 at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi.Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony will last for two hours 20 minutes and will showcase 5,000 years of Indian history.

About 7,000 athletes and officials from 71 countries and territories are participating in the Commonwealth Games 2010. The highlight of the Opening Ceremony evening will involve a huge helium balloon floating above the stadium and the 60,000 spectators cheering the players from across the world. Country's first Olympic gold medalist in the individual category, Abhinav Bindra, will bring the Queen's Baton to the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.

According to sources, the Queen's baton will be received by Prince Charles and he will read out the Queen's baton message at Opening Ceremony, whereas, the President of India, Pratibha Patil will announce the opening of the Commonwealth Games.
